New Delhi: A first-generation Apple iPhone which was launched in 2007, was sold for a whopping $35,000 (around 28 lakh) in an auction, in the United States.

Reportedly, the auction was organised by RR Auction, wherein, at least 70 Apple gadgets were put for sale and the last date to submit the final bid was August 18.

As per the RR Auction, a fully loaded 8GB original iPhone was auctioned off for Rs $35,414 dollars. The iPhone box has a life-size representation of the iPhone with 12 icons on the screen.

The device was amongst the ''Apple, Jobs, and Computer Hardware'' curated sale by RR Auction, which finished on August 18 and had over 70 items up for bid.

The first-generation iPhone was launched on January 9, 2007, at the Macworld convention in San Francisco. The device was packed with features like a touchscreen mobile phone with an iPod camera and Web-browsing capabilities etc.

Apart from a touchscreen, the iPhone had a web browser, a 2-megapixel camera, and visual voicemail.

In June 2007, the iPhone was made available in the US for $499 for the 4GB model and $599 for the 8GB model, both of which required a two-year contract.

Other devices which were sold at the auction were: Apple-1 circuit board sold for $677,196 (Rs 5.41 crore), Apple 1st generation iPod sold for $25,000 (about Rs 20 lakh), Apple: 1983 Macintosh Introduction Plan and Logo Leaflet sold for $12,044 (about Rs 9 lakh) and Apple II Floppy Disk Drive signed by Steve Wozniak sold for $1000 (around Rs 80 thousand).

Notably, on September 7, Apple is all set to introduce the iPhone 14 series and reportedly it is also being said that Apple will be launching Apple Watch Series 8 and the iPhone 14 series on the same date.

The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are reportedly going to be a part of the upcoming iPhone series.
