Justified call for boycott

Amir Khan's latest movie Lal Singh Chaddha, which was released on 11 August all over India, was not received well by the countrymen because of past deeds of the lead actor. The social media platforms trended boycott call for the movie because Amir Khan had on so many past occasions insulted - or played with the religious sentiments of the Hindus - in his earlier movie named PK. He has the rather dubious distinction of meeting our bête noire Turkey's President who is having a totally anti-Indian stance on Kashmir and Article 370 issues. While being asked about his remarks he made in Turkey, Khan simply said that it was his conscience which made him to say so. On his return to India Amir Khan blatantly told before the media that he even was contemplating to leave India with his family as he did not feel safe and secure in India. Now the very same Amir Khan known for his extra territorial loyalty has started showing his patriotism like many of his colleagues by appealing to viewers not to boycott the film as the story of the film depicts the true-life story of a great patriot. Yes, we all Indians salute great Lal Singh Chaddha and are greatly amused to see how a silver screen patriot can be a real-life traitor. Bollywood is in fact full of such traitors.

The essence of love

Love is a heavenly feeling. This feeling fills the mind and makes it colourful. In our society, there are real examples of many lovers like Jungkai-Panoi, Sati Joymoti etc., whose sacrifices have put the feeling called love on a high pedestal. Love is not just a word, although many people think it is just a word. The relationships of this kind of people move at a violent pace. For example, a girl died recently when her estranged boyfriend stabbed her on a road near Sorupeta in the Bajali district. This was reportedly because of some misunderstanding and fight between them. The fact is that love means never hurting one's partner. Sacrifice is another name of love, but not many know about this aspect. If one's partner is attracted to others, then give up your love for his/her happiness as opposed to hurting him/her. Only then will you be recognized as a true lover.

World Photography Day

World Photography Day is an annual, worldwide celebration of the art, craft, science and history of photography. Every year, World Photography Day is celebrated on August 19. The day commemorates the importance of cameras and photography in our lives. Photography enthusiasts around the world celebrate the art of capturing pictures on this occasion. The first durable colour photograph was taken by Thomas Sutton of London in 1861. He was an English photographer, author and inventor. It was a set of three black-and-white photographs taken through red, green and blue filters. However, the photographic emulsions then in use were insensitive to the spectrum, so the result was very imperfect and the demonstration was soon forgotten.

On August 19, 2010 World Photography Day hosted its first global online gallery. Almost 270 photographers shared their pictures and people from over 100 countries visited the website. This marked the first official, globally reaching World Photography Day.The first digital photograph was taken in 1957, almost 20 years before Kodak's engineer invented the first digital camera. The photograph was a digital scan of a shot initially taken on film that depicted Russell Kirsch's son and had a resolution of 176×176. Photography is an inseparable part of our lives. People use the medium in a variety of ways, from taking selfies to documenting wars and human rights abuses. Photography is an art form that can be intensely personal and also project ideas publicly in a simple manner. The saying, "A picture is worth a thousand words" remains true even now.
