GUWAHATI: The Pratibondi Suraksha Sanstha, Assam (PSSA) expressed concern over the State Government not appointing candidates in the 511 reserved fourth-grade posts for Divyangs advertised on December 31, 2018.

In a statement, PSSA secretary Nripen Malakar said, "The State Government entrusted Gauhati University to hold the examination for the 511 fourth-grade posts reserved for persons with disabilities. The university created a confusing situation by publishing a list of 4,000 candidates. The university also made a mess of the different categories of disabilities."

Malakar said, "We had a meeting on various issues today. The meeting expressed concern over the government not remitting application fees for persons with disabilities in the 26,000 posts advertised recently by the State Government. At the rate of four per cent reservation for persons with disabilities, such candidates will have 1,054 posts. The PSSA demanded the government to fill up the posts by holding a special examination for them or from the panel published by Gauhati University after rectifying the anomalies."

The PSSA also raised the demand for a hike in their pension amount from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000, increasing the number of pension beneficiaries etc.
