London: With Queen Elizabeth II's death, Operation Unicorn is underway. There were two possibilities, if the queen died in Buckingham Palace the operation would have been named "London Bridge" and as the queen died in Scotland which is her summer house, the operation will now be known as "Operation Unicorn".

The decision to codename the event of her death was taken much earlier.

The event is codenamed "Operation Unicorn" because the unicorn is the national animal of Scotland and forms part of the royal coat of arms, along with the lion of England. The fact that an imaginary animal like a unicorn is the national animal of Scotland is amusing. The unicorn is a symbol of purity and innocence which actually defines the character of the Scottish people.

Aspects of Operation London Bridge were also activated like the BBC presenters wearing black and channels switching to rolling news.

The 96-year-old monarch passed away at her remote Highlands residence, Balmoral, with all her immediate family flying in to be at her side.

The foremost Newspaper of England, The Herald, reported that the term Operation Unicorn was first used in the Edinburgh parliament's online papers in 2017, envisaging huge numbers arriving in Scotland if that was where the monarch died.

"It is understood that if the Queen dies in Scotland... the Parliament, the neighbouring Palace of Holyroodhouse, and St Giles' Cathedral will be the main focal points," the newspaper wrote Wednesday.

With the death of the monarch in Scotland, a huge number of people will arrive at the Balmoral Castle to pay their last respect to the Queen.

The parliamentary business is already suspended and politicians will prepare a motion of condolence and get ready for a state funeral.

According to a report, the funeral will take place after twelve days.

The Big Ben will ring once at 9 am on the day and then it will be covered with leather to dampen the tone for the rest of the day.
