About GMCD Karbi Anglong
Located in the foothills of scenic Deo Pahar, the uneven landscape on the banks of Deithor river is known as Deithor. Adjacent to Karbi Pahar, situated amongst the mesmerizing Tea Gardens near Numaligarh, this area of Deithor falls under the Bokajan Legislative Assembly. Located beside Golaghat district, Deithor falls under the Chilonijan Revenue Circle and is only 500 meters away from the 39 th National Highway. Recently declared as a town; there are a number of opinions regarding the origin of the name 'Deithor'. According to one popular belief, the name 'Deithor' came from the proximity of the town to Deo Pahar. Another popular belief suggests that there are 'Deo' – ghosts in the river Deithor flowing through this region. This belief led people to call this area as Deithor.
