Mother's Day is a special day of the year which falls on 8th May (2nd Sunday) and has been dedicated to all mothers of India. Mother's Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday in May. Mother's Day is a celebration of motherhood, the special bond of unconditional love among mother and child as well as the unique kind of relationship that it is. Modern Mother's Day first originated in the United States in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her Mother at St. Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Her mother Ann Jarvis died in 1905 after caring for wounded soldiers from both the sides of American Civil War. She had also created Mother's Day health clubs to address public health issues. The unconditional and selfless love of a Mother has no parallel. The love of a Mother doesn't depend on a child's physical appearance or mental ability.

A physically challenged child is loved and cared for by his/her Mother no less than a healthy child.

M is for thè million things shè gâvè mè,

O mèâns only that shè's growing old,

T is for thè tears shè shèd to sâvè mè,

H is for hèr hèârt of purèst gold,

E is for hèr èyès, with lovè-light shining,

R mèâns right, ând right shè'llâlwâysbè.

It is rightly said that "Sometimes the strength of motherhood is greater than natural laws." Mother's Day is a powerful reminder in every woman's life to celebrate the auspiciousness of Shakti, the Divine feminine grace that is the source of all harmony, love, nurturing, cherishing, and universal well-being. Mothers are mothers whether they are ancient or modern, although their roles do diverge with the changing times. It gives a message that mothers are like birds that keep their young under their wings, protecting and nurturing them always. Universally, the mother is the shock absorber of all conflicting emotions that arise among family members. The travails of a mother never end. But she makes the best management guru. Organisational skills, time-management, being economical, crisis management … everything is tackled eventually. Our mothers are our first friends, teachers, guides, doctors, confidantes and everything else that they can be. They are the ones who put our needs in front of theirs and are with us through thick and thin. We must ponder over all the pains our mother took while we were sick, the hardships she went through in bringing us up and all the sacrifices she made so that we can lead a better life. Mothers Day is the time to say a big thank you to mother for all this and for being a constant guiding force in our lives. From the birth of us till her last moment of life, she cares for us like a small child. We cannot count her contribution to our lives. Even we cannot count her daily activities from early morning till night.

She has lots of responsibilities and does it all continuously without getting tired. She is the one whose job is unlimited without any fixed job time and work. We cannot give her anything in return however we can say her big thanks and give her lots of respect and care. It is the only mother who shapes the child's character and then whole life. Every mother plays a great role in the growth and development of their child. Mother's Day is a great occasion to express all those unsaid things to your mother which remain so due to a lot of reasons like no time, some other insecurities or differences, and so on.

Mothers are always taken for granted. We often fail to recognise their unconditional love and the sacrifices they make for the family. All hell breaks loose if she is ill for a day and we have a terrible time managing the house in her absence. We must create a deeper awareness by reminding ourselves that every day must be dedicated to honouring the Divine feminine power, unfolding as a celebration of our innate Shakti force.

I wonder what God planned when he made mothers of children with special needs. A mother can impart such qualities to her children, which no outside education can provide. Youngsters must try to understand such virtues to make Mother's Day more meaningful. Merely handing over surprise gifts on the day has no meaning.
