NEW DELHI: The yoga expert Baba Ramdev is no stranger to controversies. The latest one is about a comment he gave about what women wear at an event in Maharastra.

As allegations go, the yoga guru was participating in a yoga camp in Thane of Maharastra. He said that women look good in sarees, salwar suits and even if they wear nothing at all.

A video regarding the comment in question went viral on social media and drew sharp criticism from all circles. Wife of Maharastra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Amruta Fadnavis was also present alongside the baba in the video of a yoga event. According to reports, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's son was also present at the event.

Swati Maliwal, the chairperson of the Delhi Commission of Women shared the video and asked for a formal apology from Ramdev.

"Swami Ramdev's remarks on women in front of the wife of the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra are indecent and condemnable. All women have been hurt by this statement, Baba Ramdevji should apologise to the country for this statement!" tweeted the chairperson of the Delhi Commission of Women.

Sanjay Raut, a leader of the Uddhav Babasaheb Thackeray wing of Shiv Sena did not take the incident lightly. While talking about the incident, he raised the question about why Amruta Fadnavis who was present at the event did not raise any protest regarding the demeaning comment. While talking to the media regarding the issue he asked why the state government did not take any action when the Governor gave an insulting remark of Shivaji Maharaj or when there was a conflict regarding the villages between Karnataka and Maharastra.

The chief minister of Maharastra, Eknath Shinde is currently in the city of Guwahati in Assam to visit the Kamakhaya Temple. More than 150 MLAs and other political leaders are with the CM in the Northeastern State now.
