GUWAHATI: The outrage mob has found its latest victim in food vlogger Chahat Anand who triggered a massive controversy after she dissolved and apparently consumed a chocolate shaped in the form Hindu God Ganesha.

Anand, who has several million followers across all social media platforms, recently posted the clip on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, drawing outrage.

As per the video caption, the food blogger's idea behind the 'visarjan' was to distribute the flavoured milk to poor people.

Noble though her intentions might have been, Anand has angered a section of Twitterati who are seeking action against her. Those taking affront to the video have accused the 26-year-old vlogger of "hurting Hindu sentiments."

"Hey food vlogger @chahatanand what exactly are you doing ? Who has give you the rights to do such nonsense things on the name of creativity. Apologize or be ready to face the consequences," wrote user P!YU$H S.

Another user accused her of being "woke."

"WOKISM , sadly it has spread and will keep spreading ! This nuisance will not stop and sadly she still won't get it , she will continue to defend this," said निशान्त (Nishant).

Although the clip is circulating on social media, Anand seems to have removed it from her profile. On Twitter, where the accusations of 'Hinduphobia' have been especially vitriolic, Anand seems to have deleted her account.

However, some came to her defense, pointing out that sweetmeats shaped like Ganesha are not a new thing.

"Too much conservatism and pushing people away is not good. She had no ill intent. We have seen Ganesha made of chocolate or sandesh since childhood. Dissolving in milk was very sweet," wrote a user, coming to Anand's rescue.

Anand is not the first to invite the fury of Twitter mobs for alleged "disrespect" towards Hindus. West Bengal Lok Sabha MP Mahua Moitra found herself in the middle of a political storm after stating, "Kali to me is a meat-eating, alcohol accepting goddess. That is a version of Kali. If you go to Tarapith… that is a version of Kali that people worship."

Actor Aamir Khan has also been "boycotted" by a section of the public for alleged slight toward Hindu Gods in the movie 'PK.'
