Arunachal Woman Nabbed on Charges of Child Trafficking
The Itanagar Police with the help of Child Line Service was able to get hold of the woman. A four-month-old baby was rescued from her possession.
ITANAGAR: A woman was arrested in Arunachal Pradesh's capital Itanagar on Tuesday on charges of child trafficking.

The accused identified as Anu Wangsa is a drug peddler and was also arrested last year on charges of drug possession.
The police in a statement said, "Information was received from a female drug addict regarding a case of child trafficking on September 11. After that Childline Itanagar was informed and they lodged a complaint at the Itanagar police station. As per the complaint, the biological mother borrowed some money from one Badal Natung, originally from Seijosa. However, when she failed to return the money, the accused after knowing she was pregnant, forced her to give the baby to him after the birth. The accused along with one Anu Wangsa used to lure her with drugs and extra money. And after the delivery of the baby, they took the baby from her possession. She was so terrified of them that she did not complain," the police said.
Meanwhile, an FIR under section 370(3), 34 of the Indian Penal Code, and section 80/81of the Juvenile Justice Act was registered in the Itanagar Police Station.
Later, the baby was produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and upon its direction was handed over to the OJU welfare association for safe custody of the baby. As the baby's mother is a drug addict the Child Welfare Committee did not give the child's custody to its mother.
The whole operation was under the supervision of the Additional Superintendent of Police, Itanagar, Thutan Jamba, APPS supported by a team of police inspectors namely Rongrang, Takhe Taso, M Mibang. The local magistrate of the area also helped the team to nab the accused woman.
With Anu Wangsa in the police net, drug supply in the area will take a hit which is a good thing as Arunachal is already fighting towards a drug-free state.
In a similar case, four minor girls who went missing from the Manabhum area in Diyun circle of Changlang district in Arunachal were rescued from a human trafficking racket in Assam's capital city Guwahati on Sunday.
