Assam: First Dengue Case Reported in  Cachar District

SILCHAR : The first case of dengue is reported in Cachar district. A person from Chibita Bichia in Cachar district has been infected by the virus after he returned home from Benguloru. The patient is admitted at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment.

The district administration has laid down preventive measure to stop the spread of the disease. The first case has raised alarm in the entire district of Cachar. A meeting was organized in the District Commissioner's office regarding the precautions that needs to be taken. The people are advised to stay alert.

According to the sources, until Friday 11th November, 84 fresh dengue cases has been registered in Assam and a total of 726 people are infected this month. The most affected of all the districts is Karbi Anglong. 3 death cases has been reported from the place.

1 death case has been reported in Guwahati. Kamrup has also witnessed nine such cases including Guwahati. Seven people got infected in Tinsukia. 91 cases of dengue were reported in the state as a whole, from which 65 were from Karbi Anglong and 12 cases were from Guwahati and the neighbouring places. As per reports from 1st to 7th November, cases were reported from 14 districts.

The state health department stated that, in spite of taking all the precautionary measures, there has been no respite from the outbreak. Massive campaigns has been launched for the early detection and testing of the virus, stated the official. According to the National Health Mission, 551 dengue cases has been reported in the State since November 1st. The health departments and the government has provided the affected areas with complete assistance to control the outbreak.

Mizoram and Manipur have also witnessed the outbreak as a number of five people have dies in the two states since October.
