SILCHAR : An FIR has been launched against the Madrassa authorities for allegedly teaching the students racism and also provoking them against other religion. A parent filed this police complaint against a non governmental madrassa in Swadhin Bazar locality of Sonai circle in Cachar district of Assam.

The student is identified as Sain Khan, a student of eighth standard of Swadhin Bazar Islamia Madrassa, and his father is identified as Shahab Uddin Khan. Shahab reported the case in Sonai police station against the headmaster Maulana Abul Hussain Laskar along with the secretary Faqrul Islam Mazumdar. The complaint was lodged on 11th November 2022.

The Sonai police registered the case under several IPC sections. Contrary to this, the management committee of madrassa denied and referred it to as a fake allegation. The authority is of the view that Shahab Uddin Khan has intentionally made up the story.

Shahab stated that, the headmaster of the madrassa use to call his son Sain Khan to his cabin almost every evening and brainwashed him against the Hindu religion. The maulanas allegedly carried out several jihadi activities in the madrassa. Also the headmaster has threatened and tortured him in various occasions.

The student confessed to his father that the headmasters were imparting Jihadi education in madrassa. Jihadi activities were carried out in the name of religious lectures and to radicalise students. The student also narrated an incident when the maulanas threatened him with a gun and locked him when he refused their orders.

According to the statements of Shahab, he withdrew his son from the madrassa on the 20th of October 2022. The police mentioned that personal motive can be a reason behind the case, hence further investigations are on it's way.

Recently, an incident took place in Goalpara district when the locals protested against a madrassa for allegedly using it's premises to carry out jihadi activities. The issue came to light when Jalaluddin Sheikh, a cleric of the madrassa got detained by the police for his alleged link with two Bangladeshi terrorists.
