Assam: Speeding Train Kills Senior Citizen in Boko
It is suspected that he was hit by the speeding train while he was trying to cross the tracks.
BOKO: In a tragic incident, an elderly man had to lose his life to a speeding train in Boko in Assam's Kamrup district on Friday.
The deceased is identified as one Boloram Kaivarta.
The incident is reported from Baghorgaon.
It is suspected that he was hit by the speeding train while he was trying to cross the tracks.
Police arrived at the scene and sent the dead body for post-mortem and other post-death formalities.
The deceased might have decided to end his life by jumping in front of the speeding train, so police have not yet ruled out the possibility of suicide.
A detailed investigation into the case is on. The family of the deceased will be interrogated to unearth details that could give a new angle to the case.
A similar incident was reported a month ago in August when a man and his wife died after being hit by a moving train while crossing the railway lines at Khetri in Assam's Kamrup district.
The deceased identified as Rajwi Paharia and Chandrama Devi, hailing from Khetri's Senabor were hit by the Kolong-Kopili Express at Khetri's Ulubam while they were trying to cross the railroad.
There is a need to organize awareness programmes so as to aware the motorists and pedestrians to be alert while crossing the railway lines.
It is also observed that many such accidents related to careless crossing of the railway line is related to mobile usage during crossing the railway lines.
It is really risky to enter the railway track when the gate is being lowered as there is a high chance of getting the vehicle trapped between the two gates.
A similar incident related to crossing the railway track while the gate was being lowered happened in Puranigudam Bishoyachuk railway crossing in Assam's Nagaon district in August this year when three people embarked on a swift car tried to cross the railway tracks before the gate was being closed and ended up getting crushed by a speeding train.
