State's Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted: "Recent samples from Dibrugarh Airport are positive for B.1.617 strain or the Indian double mutant (L452R and E484Q) strain of SARS-Cov-2. We need to be very very careful."

Regarding the earlier statement stated by Himanta Biswa sarma during the election campaign of 2021, it was informed that Assam had not detected the double mutant form of covid-19 infection as it is now can be seen in Maharashtra.

Specialists have said that the 'double mutant' Indian variation of SARS-CoV-2, B.1.617, is surely avoiding the opposite transcriptase-polymerase chain response, or RT-PCR test.

The Health Ministry also stated in a statement that the SARS-CoV-2 occupies the Nasopharyngeal region where the body's immune system counters it and stops it from directly acquiring the lungs.

Scientists are checking that if the two mutated forms joined together in the same virus, which has more chances to be infectious and less affected by the vaccines, such mutated form endows immune breakout and increases the chances of getting infected.

Though in the midst of the emotional ascent in infection cases and passings across India, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) stated that Bharat Biotech's Covid-19 immunization Covaxin with an efficiency of 78 percent kills different variations of SARS-CoV-2 and adequately neutralizes the double mutant strain also.
