Himanta Biswa Sarma Releases Theme Song of Lachit Divas

GUWAHATI: The 400th birth anniversary of the great Ahom general Lachit Borphukhan will be celebrated with great valour. The theme song for this mega celebration was released today by the Assam CM.

Soon after coming to power, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the birthday of the great general of Ahom forces will be celebrated with great pomp. Keeping up with his promise, several events were organised throughout the year to mark this special occasion. The culmination of the events will happen as a mega event on the 400th birthday of the military leader on November 24.

To keep up with the festivities, the Assam Chief Minister today launched the official theme song or Shirsh Geet for the celebration. The launch event took place in the Chief Minister's Auditorium in the Janata Bhawan complex in Guwahati. The event was also attended by several members of the Assam Government. Atul Bora, Chandramohan Patwari, Ranjit Kumar Das, Yogesh Mohan, Sanjay Kisan, Piyush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Barua and Bimal Bora. Chief Secretary of Assam, Pawan Kumar Barthakur was also present for the launch.

"The song is a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Mahabir Lachit and is a step to spread the importance and emotions of Lachit Day at all levels I am sure that the patriotism emanating from the title song will once again revive the people of Assam with the love of their country and nation and contribute to establishing the ideals of the great hero in the hearts of the younger generation," mentioned the Chief Minister.

The government of Assam is the main organiser of this celebration. As a part of the campaign, posters and banners aimed at telling people across the country about his life and works were put at prominent locations across the country. To take the campaign to a whole new level, postering was also done on the coaches of metro trains in the capital of the nation.
