Guwahati: Amid the havoc created by incessant rain in the northeastern region, the route from Silchar-Ratachera-Khliehriat has been blocked following the fresh landslide.

As per the East Jaintia Hills Police, the landslide occurred in Kuliang village on National Highway (NH) 06 on Tuesday morning.

Following the disruptions, the concerned departments have been deployed to clear the roads and assistance is being given to stranded passengers.

''There has been fresh Landslide in Kuliang village on NH06 this morning. The route from Silchar-Ratachera-Khliehriat has been blocked. Efforts are on to clear the same and necessary assistance is being provided to stranded passengers,'' East Jaintia Hills Police tweeted.

Meanwhile, under the twin attack of floods and landslides, the Dima Hasao district is suffering the worst.

The New Haflong Railway Station looks desolate and muddy and the hill district remained cut off by roads, rails, and the internet. Power connections also remained cut in many areas in the district.

According to Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) sources, the Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Nimatighat in the Jorhat district while the Kopili River is still flowing above the danger level at Kamrpur.
