Train engine, car collide in Chabua, Dibrugarh
A train engine collided with a Maruti Alto car in an unmanned railway level crossing at the Kamargaon area of Chabua in the Dibrugarh district

DIBRUGARH: A train engine collided with a Maruti Alto car in an unmanned railway level crossing at the Kamargaon area of Chabua in the Dibrugarh district on Monday.
The car (AS-06-AD-0911) was damaged in the collision, but no one was injured in the incident. The driver of the car, who had a narrow escape, left the accident site soon after the mishap. He has not been identified yet.
Local people lifted the damaged car from the railway track even before railway officials and police could reach the spot.
"The car driver suddenly appeared and tried to cross the railway track. I immediately applied emergency brakes and the engine hit the car. But the impact was not that hard. The driver was able to get out of the car before it was hit. He left before we could reach him," the engine driver said.
