Guwahati Selection Chess Championship-2022 for Junior and Women organized by Guwahati Chess Association held from 8th to 11th September 2022 at South Point School, Barsapara, Guwahati. From this tournament Guwahati Team to participate in the All Assam Inter District Chess Championship-2022 (Junior and Women) is selected.

The tournament was held in Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13 Under-15 in both boys and girls and women categories.

In the Under-7 Boys, Category Prachurjy Changmai got the first position by scoring 3 points while Parthiv Sankarsana got the second position by scoring 2 points. In the under-7 Girls category, Dhanyata Goswami clinched the title by scoring 4 points. Abrinamyla Borah got the second position by scoring 2 points. Arya Jain and Shanaya Bhowmick got third and fourth positions respectively.

In the under-9 Boys category, Aarohan got the first position by scoring 5 points. Krishnav Mrinmoy Hazarika got the second position. He scored 4 points. Rajat Bafna and Neehar Das got third and fourth positions respectively by scoring 3 and 2.5 points.

In the under-9 Girls category, Ritisha Mayra Rajbongshi got the first position by scoring 3.5 points. Sristi Rupa Roy and Aayushmita Paul both scored 3 points each and got second and third position respectively.

In the under 11 Boys category, Tanmay Rajbongshi got the first position by scoring 5 points. Jagajit Sinha scored 4 points and got the second position. Jayraj Barman and Emil Borgohain got third and fourth position respectively by scoring 3 points each.

In the under-11 Girl's category, Tamanna Sarma got the first position by scoring 2.5 points and Hridika Das scored 2 points and got the second position.

In the under 13 Boys category, Himanish Sharma got the first position by scoring 4 points. Shuvang Pran Kashyap got the second position. He scored 3.5 points. Priyanuj Das got the third position by scoring 3 points and Suhan Pati got the fourth position by scoring 1.5 points.

Afsheen Afsha Zaman scored 5 points and got the first position in the under 13 girls' category. Ikshita Barman got the second position by scoring 4 points. Daisey Dutta got the third position in this category by scoring 3 points.

Shubham Bhattacharjee got the first position under-15 Boys category by scoring 3.5 points. Nalinakhya Kashyap got the second position. He scored 2.5 points.

Risha Bujar Baruah clinched the category in women category by scoring 2.5 points. Shivangipriya Kashyap also scored 2.5 points but she got the second position in the tie-break. Shikhamoni Kalita and Stuti Sarma both got 2 points each and got third and fourth position respectively according to the tie-break score.

The tournament was held in the swiss league system. Altogether 43 players participated in the tournament. The top four position holders of each category were selected to represent Guwahati in the forthcoming All Assam Inter District Chess Championship to be held in Jorhat in next month. Fide Arbiter Mrs Salina Masum conducted the tournament as Chief Arbiter. Pranab Kumar Nath, General Secretary, Guwahati Chess Association was Tournament Director.

Prize Distribution Ceremony was held on 11th September 2022 at South Point School, Guwahati Barsapa. Mrs Isha Gangwal, President, JCI Guwahati Hunar was Guest of Honor of prize distribution ceremony. Prizes were distributed by Mrs Salina Masum, Mr Chiraranjan Bhuyan Joint Secretary, Prayag Hazarika, Executive Member, Rajesh Gangwal, Past President, Zone 25 JCI,. Pranab Kumar Nath, General Secretary, Guwahati Chess Association and Kushala Bagadia, Treasurer, Guwahati Chess Association were also present in the prize distribution ceremony.
