DIMAPUR: The two-day 2nd Annual Conference of the North East Indigenous People's Forum (NEIPF), hosted by the Nagaland Indigenous People's Forum (NIPF) at the North East Zone Cultural Centre at Diphupar in Chumukedima concluded on Saturday with the formation of a new executive body and a resolution entitled 'Diphupar Declaration'.

This was stated in a press release issued by NEIPF chairman Anup Chetia and NIPF president Dr Temsuwati Longkumer.

The new executive body of the NEIPF will have Anup Chetia as chairman, Dr Lima Jamir and Tage Lapung as vice chairmen and N Ibungochoubi as general secretary.

Following the deliberations from the delegates, resource persons, scholars, intellectuals and representatives of various organizations, the conference resolved to present a declaration to the people of the region.

Article 1 of the 'Diphupar Declaration states that the NEIPF will continuously strive for creation of a conducive atmosphere for the indigenous peoples of the North-East States, sharing common interest and issues.

Article 2 states that the NEIPF will make an endeavour in the pursuit of preserving indigenous traditional values and cultural practices.

Article 3 demands assurance for ensuring and making the indigenous people a stakeholder in every decision concerning the people and the land.

Article 4 draws the attention of the North-East States to address the inter-state boundaries with utmost care. The NEIPF calls for giving preference to the indigenous peoples in the settlement.
