Tripura Officials Confirm Deadline Extension For Bru Rehabilitation
Punit Agarwal, the Department of Revenue's Principal Secretary, announced that the central government had extended the deadline for the Bru rehabilitation process until February 28, 2023.
AGARTALA: The deadline for the rehabilitation of displaced persons from Bru has been extended by the central government to February 28, 2023, according to Punit Agarwal, principal secretary, of the Department of Revenue, on November 9.
Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Minister Manik Saha discussed this information during a high-level meeting.
"To finish the process of resettling the Bru people in the state, the state government is focusing on a humanitarian strategy. The state government wants the resettlement procedure to be finished as soon as possible. If an issue emerges in this scenario, it will be resolved through dialogue, he stated.
The rehabilitation process, according to the Chief Minister, only started to pick up steam once the present administration took office. As a result of the agreement, the state administration is aiming to hasten the restoration process' conclusion.
Punit Agarwal, the Department of Revenue's Principal Secretary, announced during the meeting that the central government had extended the deadline for the Bru rehabilitation process until February 28, 2023.
"At 12 designated areas, 6,302 families are undergoing relocation during this time. In the ten predetermined areas, 4,171 families have been relocated. The rehabilitation process is underway for the remaining 2,131 families, he said.
He added that 2,326 homes had already been erected for Bru families and that further infrastructure, including roads, drinking water, power, schools, Anganwadi centers, sub-health centers, and ration shops, will be established in the restoration regions.
Families from the Bru tribe have been invited to establish cooperative organizations. A cooperative society's formation process has already begun. To date, the Bru households—including the 3,106 families with gas connections—have received 3,785 Rs, 8,053 Aadhaar Enrollments, 3,735 Ration Cards, 6,939 PRTCs, 7,831 ST Certificates, 3,655 MNREGA Job Cards, and 7,029 Voter Cards.
In the review meeting, the deputy chief minister stated that the state government is honestly trying to find a solution to the age-old issue of bru resettlement.
He declared, "If there is a problem with the rehabilitation, it will be discussed with everyone and steps would be done to solve it.
