GUWAHATI: Assam girl and an Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain is all set for the finale of Asian Championships 2022. Along with her, four other players were selected for the finale, but dropped with bronze medals in Amman Jordan. The 2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain, 2022 World Championship bronze medalist Parveen, Alfiya Pathan and Meenakshi performed wonderfully and marked their position the finale of 2022 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan on Wednesday.

Assam girl Ankushita Boro signed off at the last four rounds. She lost 1-4 to Khamidova Navbakhor from Uzbekistan. Ankushmita was awarded with bronze medal for her tremendous efforts.

Lovlina is still on the run for the gold. Her victory for the silver medal is certain this time in the Asian Championship, with her unreal performance. The 25-year-old will play against silver medalist 2021 Ruzmetova Sokhiba in the finale round.

According to sources from the Boxing Federation of India (BFI), Lovlina used her witty moves and techniques and defeated Seong Suyeon from South Korea in the semi finale. She was seeing showing her commendable strength and tactics throughout all the three rounds, and overshadowed her opponent. The Assam girl was on her finest version during the rounds and did not allow any resurgence to the South Korea player. Borgohain won by 5-0 in the semi finale. Lovlina Borgohain won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, another bronze medal at the 2018 AIBA Women's world boxing Championship. She won this consecutively in the year 2019 as well.

Along with Lovlina, Alfiya Pathan has also reached the finale of the championship by defeating Lazzat Kungeibayeva from Kazakhstan. Both of the Indian girls gave it their all to reach the finale, beating the finest contestants.

India stands in the third position among all the competing nations for this tournament.
