Assam-Mizoram border issues: Two CMs review Aizawl talks
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed with his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga in New Delhi to solve the long-standing border issues between the two states.

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed with his Mizoram counterpart Zoramthanga in New Delhi today to solve the long-standing border issues between the two states.
Chief Minister Sarma said, "We reviewed the August 9 ministerial-level talks in Aizawl. We are in the process of forming a regional committee to discuss and resolve the issues."
Sarma said that Assam would take the line it was taking with Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh as Union Home Minister Amit Shah made it crystal clear to resolve all inter-state border issues in the Northeast before 2024. The meeting between the two CMs lasted for around twenty-five minutes.
Mizoram CM Zoramthanga said, "We have had a good round of meetings, and we are satisfied with the progress made at the meeting between the ministers of the two states."
In November last year, the two CMs met in the presence of the Union Home Minister in the national capital to discuss the decades-long pending issue. A couple of rounds of meetings have taken place between the delegations from Assam and Mizoram to solve border issues.
In 1972, Mizoram became a union territory and got statehood in 1987.
