6 COVID Deaths Reported in Sonitpur over past few days

Six persons lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Sonitpur district on Monday.

They have been identified as Bireswar Rabha (40) of Tezpur, Adhir Sutradhar (62) of Borghat Tezpur, a 65 year old woman, Pradeep Saikia (65) frok Dhekiajuli, Anil Kumar Jah (45) from Rongapara and Biren Hazarika (62) from Jamugurihat, who died at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH), taking the death toll to 44 in the district during the second wave of the pandemic.

On Monday (May 17), 252 new fresh COVID-19 cases were detected in Sonitpur district, thereby increasing the total number of active cases in the district during the second wave is 1,795.

The total number of COVID deaths in the state has increased to 2,271 till May 17.
