Guwahati: Mother- Daughter Found Hanging Dead In Sijubari Locality, Husband Arrested
A video message from Nazma was soon found recorded by her prior to her death where she accuses her husband of cruelty and asks people to pray for her.
GUWAHATI: In a heart- rending incident in the Sijubari locality of the city, a mother and her daughter of around 7 years were found dead from suspected hanging in the rented house around noon today.
The two were found dead by hanging from a fan by the husband of the mother and father of the child in the bedroom of the rented accommodation in a multi- storied house opposite Sijubari Lodge in the Hatigaon area. The incident reportedly happened while the husband was out.
Local residents said the husband Azad Ali came home and found the door locked. Getting no answer, he is said to have broken down the door after informing the owner of the house and discovered his wife and daughter allegedly hanging from the fan. The details regarding the discovery of the bodies are not clear at this point.
The dead woman's name is Nazma Begum. The name of the child cannot be disclosed for obvious reasons.
Police arrived at the spot and started an investigation. They suspected foul play and were somewhat proved right when Nazma's mobile phone was discovered. Husband Azad Ali has allegedly hidden the phone.

In the video message, Nazma says, "This is the first time I am making a video. My husband frequently tortures me. I was not allowed to talk with anyone outside the house. My husband used to stay out of the house at nights. He would not listen to me and instead used to beat me up. He also tortured our daughter. My husband only listens to his mother and sister. I have been bearing his torture for the last nine years, since I was married. I am not even allowed to talk with my family on the phone. Recently, he threatened to kill me and blame me for having an affair, when nothing of that sort is there. I did not have any peace during my lifetime. Please pray that I get peace after death."
The end of the message makes it apparent that it is a case of suicide but the police are not sure and examining every angle in the case.
Latest reports say that Azad Ali has been arrested on suspicion as he had hidden his wife's phone containing the damning statement.
