Suspected thief escapes police custody in Guwahati; caught

GUWAHATI: A suspected thief managed to get away from police custody on Friday morning in Guwahati. The suspect was still in handcuffs when he managed to escape from police custody.

According to sources, the suspect was being transported by the police for medical examination at a medical facility in the Last Gate locality on Friday. While they were still on their way, the suspect seized the opportunity to flee from the police with his handcuffs still on.

The thief was reportedly apprehended and handed over to the police by local people. It was alleged that the two constables on duty had released the suspect, allowing him to make his way away from police custody.

Meanwhile, a manhunt has been initiated by the police to nab the escaped thief.
