SILCHAR : In a shocking accident three persons including a father-son duo lost their lives on the eve of Makar Sankranti feast (Uruka). The accident happened at Badribasti area at around 9 pm on Saturday. Two bikes were recovered from the site by the locals and three persons were seen severely wounded. They were immediately rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital and none could survive. On Sunday morning all the three persons succumbed to their injuries. The father-son duo were identified as Binay Bhushan Dutta, 64, and Biraj Dutta, 24. Binay Bhushan was a retired employee of Palorbond Tea Estate whereas his son Biraj had recently got a grade III job. The other deceased was Sikandar Ali Chowdhury, 34. Since there was no eyewitness, how the accident happened could not be readily ascertained. Binay Bhushan and his son, according to his family, had gone to Silchar for marketing. Sikandar Ali too was reportedly returning from Silchar. It was speculated that rush and uncontrolled driving by some heavy vehicle caused the accident.
