Assam: Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Stage Protests
The protesters also informed that they will be carrying out this non-cooperation protest till 7 October 2023 in different places across the state.
BISWANATH: A large number of Anganwadi workers and helpers staged a non-cooperative protest program at the Sakumotha project office in Biswanath on Wednesday.
This protest was led by the district committee of the Asom Rajyik Anganwadi Karmi and Sahayika Santha. Some of the key demands of the protesting people include recognising these workers as government employees, giving wages in place of remuneration, and till the time the state government is unable to provide proper wages as per their promise, they demanded a monthly remuneration of Rs 12000.
They also demanded that the government pay them the gratuity and the payment of the one-time relief amount to the retired Anganwadi workers and helpers as well as the MINI Workers before October 20. The protesters also informed that they will be carrying out this non-cooperation protest till 7 October 2023 in different places across the state.
The Goalpara district administration has decided to convert at least 36 Anganwadi centres into the model Anganwadi centres within this financial year. This was stated by Khanindra Choudhury, District Commissioner (DC) of Goalpara on Friday while he was laying the foundation stone of three model Anganwadi centres – Dorapara, Ketekibari and Bamundanga Part-II under the Balijana development block. “Right from imparting primary education, the centres are designed to provide nutritious food and extending facilities for games and sports for the children,” remarked Khanindra Choudhury.
The State Government has allotted Rs 25 lakh for each centre and the construction of the same will have to be completed within the next six months after the laying of the foundation stone.
Also, MLA of Kalaigaon Durga Das Boro laid the foundation stone of Model Anganwadi Centres at Bhehguri under the Kalaigaon constituency in Udalguri district recently. MLA Durga Das laid the foundation stone of 437 Madhya Bhehguri Model Anganwadi Centre at Bhehguri under Majarchuba VCDC at a cost of Rs 25 lakh.
