GUWAHATI: In a historic triumph, Elvis Ali Hazarika, a distinguished swimmer hailing from Assam, etched his name in the annals of achievement by becoming the first Assamese to conquer the challenging stretch from Elephanta Island Jetty to the Gateway of India in Mumbai. The groundbreaking feat unfolded on a Wednesday, showcasing Hazarika's unparalleled determination against the formidable forces of the Arabian Sea.

This extraordinary journey was no ordinary swim. Hazarika navigated through waters filled with large fish and a myriad of jellyfish, encountering a series of obstacles that tested his mettle. “With each new effort, swimmer Elvis Ali Hazarika sets new milestones of endurance and hard work. Congratulations on the successful solo swim from Elephanta Island Jetty to the Gateway Of India in Mumbai. May you keep on breaking records and bring glory to the nation. My best wishes for your future endeavors,” Sonowal wrote.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also took to social media to congratulate Hazarika for this remarkable achievement. He acknowledged the challenges Hazarika faced, mentioning the encounters with big fishes during the tough swim. "Good work Elvis! That must have been a tough swim," Sarma wrote.
