Guwahati: Miffed over the alleged mistreatment, customers on Thursday protested against the bank manager of Gramin Vikash Bank in Assam's Sonari district.

During the protest, they alleged that the bank manager, identified as Bishnu Hazarika often mistreats his clients.

The protestors staging demonstrations outside the bank sought the suspension of the bank manager for his alleged ill-treatment of the customers.

"He has been abusing many consumers in a very disrespectful manner and a handful number of people are stepping forward with their resentment and injustice made by the bank manager," said one of the protestors.

Besides this, a woman also mentioned that the bank has not been able to update her passbook since 2020 and her KYC too has not been renewed yet.

The protestors further stated that the bank always refuses to solve their issues by making excuses. They also claimed that they don't receive any messages pertaining to their bank transactions.

Meanwhile, the bank manager refused to accept such accusations and instead said that he has never treated anybody badly and he did not have any idea regarding the said protest seeking his suspension.

According to him, these allegations are fake and he has rather always tried to help the clients with their difficulties and issues.

Earlier in December 2016, some customers expressed their misery by making a protest after waiting in a long queue outside the Indian Bank branch at Tamil Nadu's Vaniyambadi.

As per reports, they were waiting for a long time to receive cash. Supposedly, the bank replied to them that they ran out of cash.

Later after the protest, the awaited customers were given money and tokens.
