Assam: Teacher Goes Missing in Nagaon

NAGAON: A teacher who hails from Raha in Nagaon district in Assam went missing from his residence on Saturday.

The missing teacher has been identified as one Tapas Jyoti Medhi.

According to the FIR lodged by Medhi's wife, Medhi is missing from his home since Saturday.

Medhi's wife also let the media know that Medhi was as usual returning from his work to his home in Phulaguri in Raha but did not reach home.

The car he was travelling in his Hyundai Santro car bearing the registration number AS-02-J-7103.

Medhi's wife Mousumi Saikia has urged the police to find her husband as soon as possible.

Police is interrogating Medhi's co-workers and his family to find out if Medhi had any sort of enmity with anyone which could have been the cause of his disappearance.

Police has also launched search operations along the way Medhi was traveling that day and also is interrogating nearby shop owners if they witnessed anything unusual.

So far, no concrete information about the missing of the teacher is available.

In a similar incident a couple of years ago, a lady teacher who went missing from Kalaigaon in Assam's Udalguri district on July 6, 2020, was found dead today near Kalaigaon town the next day.

The teacher identified as Nayantara Sahariah was on her regular morning walk session on July 6 but she did not return home.

Sahariah's husband went on a tracing spree for his wife but did not find her.

Following that he lodged a complaint in Kalaigaon Police Station.

The police launched a search operation for the missing lady but was unable to find her.

Later her body with probable acid injuries on the face was found in a classroom of a private school, barely 100 meters from where she lived.

The locals also said that the relations between the husband and wife were sour which did put a finger on her husband.
