NAGAON: Two girl children aged 3 and 10 went missing from Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital in Nagaon.

According to sources, the mothers of the two girl children were admitted to the Bhogeswari Phukanani Civil Hospital after suffering burn injuries. They were undergoing treatment in the hospital for the past few days.

According to a statement by a nurse of the hospital, the missing kids have been sold off to some child traffickers. She also said that the 3-year-old baby was sold off for 8000 rupees by her own brother. The fact of how the nurse of the hospital came to know about these details sounds shady.

As per reports the two ladies succumbed to their injuries in the hospital on Monday night. The ladies worked in a brick quarry in South Lumari.

Further investigation on the case is on.

It is to be mentioned here that a few months back in April a 7-month-old baby went missing from a pediatric ward of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

The child, Priyam Kalita was admitted to GMCH on March 24 with fever and anemia and was diagnosed to be a case of Bilateral Hydroureteronephrosis with cystitis.

The hospital in a statement said that as the baby was crying, the father of the baby gave the baby to an unknown lady to console and the parents fell asleep by 4:30 am, after an hour later when the parents woke up they found that the baby is missing along with the lady whom the father gave the baby to console.

Notably, a child goes missing every 10 minutes in India, according to the Women and Child Development Ministry website for tracking missing children. At this rate, around 54,750 children would have been reported missing in the last year in India and only about half of them would have been traced.
