UDALGURI: The Udalguri Arya Samaj organized Mahamrityunjay Yajna to commemorate its founder Acharya Dayananda Saraswati at Udalguri with a two day-long programme. The programme began with a tribute to the martyrs of the nation by the retired headmaster of Khawrang High School which was followed by tree planting by Prem Bahadur Limbu, the headmaster of Jangal Borigaon M E School and Bijay Das, a prominent member of Udalguri Arya Samaj.

An extempore speech and quiz competitions were also held on that occasion where children from various schools participated. The programme was moderated by Bhuban Sarma, the headmaster of Ambagaon High School, Mohan Kumar Chetry, the subject teacher of Udalguri H S School and Kavita Devi. A multi-lingual poet meet was also organized where poets recited poems in Sanskrit, Hindi, Assamese and Nepali. It was conducted by Haribhakta Sarma, the former president of Udalguri Arya Samaj.

The second day of the programme began with the hoisting of flags. Devaraj Sapkota, the president of Udalguri Arya Samaj hoisted the flag and was followed by presidents of Rowta, Barangajuli, Suklai, Rajagarh and Bholajhar. The Mahamrityunjay Yajna was conducted by Tikaram Subedi, the national coordinator of Arya Yuva Dal and Prabhakar Arya, the secretary of Assam Arya Pratinidhi Sabha highlighted the life and works of Acharya Dayananda Saraswati. People from villages took part on Kundiya Mahamrityunjay Yajna and lauded the works of Arya Samaj.
