SILCHAR: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Mansukh Mandaviya today virtually inaugurated Central Government Health Scheme(CGHS) wellness center in Assam's Silchar.

The minister believes that the new CGHS wellness center in Silchar will provide quality healthcare in the region and will fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of a 'Swasth Bharat'.

Mandaviya while inaugurating the center said, "In a significant achievement to strengthening the country's health infrastructure and accessibility to CGHS services, there has been a threefold increase in the number of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centres. The cities covered by CGHS Wellness Centres have has grown from 25 in 2014 to 75 now. This is in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji to provide easily accessible healthcare services closer to the communities."

Mandaviya tweeted, "Virtually inaugurated the Central Government Health Scheme center of Silchar, Assam. It will serve all Central Government employees and pensioners. PM@NarendraModiJi's Govt has significantly expanded the CGHS centers & its services across the country.

The New CGHS center will provide healthcare services to retired Central Government employees residing in and around Silchar such as Karimganj, Hailakandi, and the Barak valley.

Mandaviya during his speech also said,"The new Wellness Centre would cater to the medical needs of several thousands of beneficiaries and would mitigate their hardships, as they will not be required to travel to such faraway places now."

The Central Government Health Scheme(CGHS) provides comprehensive health care facilities to central government employees, pensioners, and their dependents residing in CGHS-covered cities. This scheme was first started in 1954 in Delhi.
