SILCHAR : Veteran journalist as well as 1972 Language Movement leader Swadesh Biswas breathed his last on Tuesday at his residence. Biswas, 77, left behind his wife and two sons. Biswas was suffering from kidney-related diseases for last few months. His last rites were performed at Silchar Smashanghat on Tuesday. Swadesh Biswas, as a SFI leader in the early seventeens, took major role in Language Act Movement in 1972. He was arrested and spent two months in Silchar jail. Biswas was a leading journalist too. He was the editor of ‘Asom Shirsha’, a Bengali periodical. Biswas was the general secretary of Silchar Press Club.
