DIBRUGARH: The Northeast International Documentary and Film Fest (NIDFF) announced its return for a second season, promising to once again illuminate Dibrugarh, with the vibrancy of global cinema and immersive workshops from January 18 to January 21. This four-day cinematic odyssey caters to both budding and established filmmakers, offering intensive masterclasses in diverse subjects such as direction, cinematography, editing, VFX, sound design, film scoring, and more, led by esteemed industry professionals. The venue for NIDFF Season 2 is Dibrugarh District Library Auditorium.

Building upon the resounding success of season 1 in 2023, NIDFF continues its unwavering commitment to bridging the geographical and cultural divide between the international film industry and the burgeoning cinematic landscape of Northeast India. As the first festival of its kind in upper Assam, NIDFF transcends the realm of mere film showcasing, acting as a potent catalyst for artistic growth and exchange. The festival’s core objectives are threefold: Empowerment of local talent: Providing a platform for regional filmmakers to network with international peers and hone their skills under the guidance of accomplished mentors. Enrichment of local audiences: Exposing them to a diverse tapestry of cinematic voices and narratives from across the globe, broadening their perspectives and appreciation for film. Fostering cultural understanding: Harnessing the universal language of cinema to forge meaningful connections and celebrate the richness of diverse cultures, both within India and on the international stage.

NIDFF 2024 embraces the captivating theme of “Global Reels: Celebrating Cultures Through Film Tourism,” underscoring its dedication to utilizing cinema as a powerful tool for intercultural dialogue and a catalyst for tourism growth.

Dibrugarh, with its picturesque tea gardens and captivating cultural heritage, stands poised to welcome cinephiles and filmmakers from across the globe. A total of 346 films were submitted from filmmakers globally, of which 78 films earned official selection, 38 films have been nominated as finalists and 16 films among the finalists will be screened on January 21.

NIDFF is organized by RedCardinal Motion Pictures, an independent film company based out of Dibrugarh, with Mridupawan Bora as Festival Director, Ray Ahmed as Vice President, Rakesh Changmai as Head of Operations and Tridib Konwar assuming the role of Head Coordinator.

As part of the festival initiatives, a souvenir titled “Spotlight” was also published, 2000 copies of which will be distributed among festival attendees and participants, while e-souvenirs will be distributed globally. “Spotlight” for season 2 has been edited by Rohan Diboru.
