Assam Rifles recovers foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 23.40 lakh
The ongoing smuggling of foreign-origin cigarettes is a cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar border.
Aizawl: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchip Battalion of Headquarters of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) recovered foreign-origin cigarettes worth Rs 23,40,000 (18 cases of Farstar cigarettes) in gen area Zokhawthar Champhai on May 27, 2022.
The operation was carried out based on specific information. The approximate value of the recovered foreign-origin cigarettes is Rs 23,40,000.
The ongoing smuggling of foreign-origin cigarettes is a cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar border. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the 'Sentinels of Northeast', have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram, a press release said.
