GUWAHATI: An untoward situation occurred when a leader of the Telengana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) tried to take away the microphone just as Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was about to address a Ganesh Utsav function at Bhagyanagar in Hyderabad on Friday.

The man was subsequently overpowered by the police and arrested.

According to Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, who was present on the occasion, the TRS leader suddenly came from the back of the dais and grabbed the microphone just as Sarma was about to speak. Mallabaruah said that they were stunned for a moment and could not realise the intention of the intruder.

Mallabaruah added that all they know so far is that the man had contested the last Assembly elections of that state.
